Background

Plaid is the political party of Wales and following the Assembly elections of 2007 secured its position as the second largest party in Wales with 15 seats.

Following a rebrand in 2006, the Party required a new website to help attract new members and support and make existing members feel proud to represent the party.

Solution

Imaginet combined the new off-line branding to create a design that is striking and easy to navigate. Key features of the solution include:

  • An extensive range of content management facilities allow Plaid to maintain their site with minimum fuss. Features include:
    • Documents and media database so that useful publications and videos can be uploaded to the site
    • A links database enables simple presentation of links to relevant websites
    • Some CMS content can be restricted so that only registered users can access it
  • A microsites system allows individual websites to be created for MPs, Assembly Members and candidates as well as campaigns. Each microsite is branded according to the need and new images and content can be added just like with the main website
  • The Google maps API is integrated into the site to highlight where Assembly Members are based in the country
  • The site contains prominent links to the Party's social networking groups such as Facebook, Flickr, YouTube and Twitter, which will help to optimise the website further
  • Visitors can register to receive monthly newsletters from the party and encourages people to become a member of the party and make donations
