Imaginet will be delivering smartcard web portals as part of the SAM Managed Service available to ITSO members across the UK.
Smart Applications Management (SAM) previously known as the South West Smart Applications Ltd (SWSAL) is a 'not for profit' organisation aiming to deliver Smart and integrated ticketing solutions throughout the UK as well as improving the passenger experience and reducing carbon.
During 2015-16, SAM undertook an extensive procurement exercise to create a new Framework for various ITSO Goods & Services, including a Lot for smartcard web portals.
Imaginet not only made it onto the new Framework, but was also selected as the preferred web portal provider for the SAM Managed Service proposition. This means that any local authority or Public Transport operator who is a member of the SAM network can choose to use the Managed Service and Imaginet will deliver a portal, fully integrated with the third party systems to allow a traveller to manage their smartcard online.
The first two smartcard schemes to use the managed service will be Norfolk County Council and Travelwest who both require portals with ticket retailing, application and smartcard management. The new portals plan to launch in Q1 2017.
