Smarter Travel Starts with Smart Ticketing and Tap & Go
MetroSmart is a secure, account-based smart-ticketing platform transforming how passengers across Merseyside manage and pay for travel. From smartcard registration and digital ticket purchasing to Tap & Go functionality across supported routes, the platform delivers a seamless, paperless travel experience — supporting both passengers and operators with a more connected, efficient network.

Imaginet delivered — and continues to support — MetroSmart, the
official smart-ticketing website for public transport in the
Liverpool City Region, operated by Merseytravel.
The platform provides passengers with a secure and convenient way to
manage travel using a reusable MetroCard, replacing traditional
paper tickets with digitally stored smart tickets. Designed as a
central account and ticket management hub, MetroSmart simplifies how
customers access, purchase, and manage their journeys.
Passengers can register their MetroCard, buy and view tickets
online, and use services such as Tap & Go across supported routes,
including Merseyrail. The solution enhances the customer experience
while supporting a more efficient, connected, and increasingly
paperless transport network.
